This coming Saturday, October 1st, I will be attending/participating in my first photowalk. The photowalk is part of Scott Kelby's Fourth Annual Woldwide PhotoWalk. For those of you who don't know (and I didn't until about a month ago), Scott Kelby is a popular photographer, designer and Photoshop guru. What is a photowalk? you ask. Well, a photowalk is a get together of photographers who walk and take photos. There's really nothing more to it than that. Usually, the goal is to learn and improve as a photographer, rather than document anything in particular.
This year there are over 1100 photowalks taking place over the two days of the "event". Close to 25,000 people are participating in these photowalks, which are taking place all over the world. Here in the Atlanta, GA area there are a number of photowalks. I will be participating in this one, which starts at the world famous Varsity and goes through downtown Atlanta. The walk starts at 9AM and finishes at 11:30. I'm looking forward to this as it should give me a chance to get some good cityscape type photos and hopefully find a few opportunities to shoot things with "repetition" in them. My photography club's October meeting theme of patterns and repetition, so I need to have a few images that are worthy of submitting for the contest.
I plan on posting a "review" of this photowalk, along with some of the photographs I shot during the walk. The weather looks to be just about perfect, so it should be a fun time.
Are any of you participating in this year's event. If so, let me know and maybe we can share some of your images here on the blog. If you haven't yet signed up, there's still time! Go to this page to find a walk near you.
