Sunset Over Puget Sound

Here is a picture of a sunset over Puget Sound from our 2001 trip to Seattle and Olympic National Park. This is yet another image that I "found" while going through my old digital files on the computer. I took this photo around 9:40 PM on September 2nd, 2001. This was the 1st night we were in Seattle to start a week's long vacation in the area. I believe I took this from a dock North of downtown after we had a delicious dinner. The colors were fantastic and the clouds made it even better. I took this with the little Olympus c-3000 zoom, a 3.1 megapixel camera with some pretty good specs for its day.

I posted this picture on Google+ (you can follow me there if you want) and got a request to make the photo available as a download to be used for computer desktop wallpaper. Well, I've gone beyond that, and have made the image, along with many others that I'll post here, available for purchase OR download. How's that for customer service? :-)

All you need to do is click on the buttons at the bottom of the photos to either "Buy Print (in various sizes depending on the image)", "Buy Card (greeting or postcards)", "Download (for wallpaper or other use)", "Share (to let others know about the photo)" or "eCard (to send an ecard with the image on it)". The prints, downloads and cards are priced very fairly and the eCard and Share options are free.

Vacation Photographs: Seattle, Labor Day 2001

I think it's neat how you can look at old vacation photographs and vividly remember everything about the trip. It s a rainy and wet Labor Day 2011 here in Georgia. Tropical Storm Lee is finally bringing us some much needed rain. That got me thinking about our vacation to Seattle back in 2001. It was a little rainy and wet that weekend as well. We arrived there over the Labor Day weekend and it was our 1st time in the area. We spent a couple of days in the city then drove out to the Olympic Peninsula for a few days then came back to Seattle to watch a Mariners game and then fly back to Chicago.  We spent the first day wandering around the city, particularly Pike Place Market. We got there early, right after they opened in fact. There were lots of photo opportunities to be had. So many colors, sights and sounds. I had my little Olympus 3 megapixel camera with me and took a lot of pictures, some which actually came out pretty good. Here is a picture from Monday, September 3rd 2001 (Labor Day). I took it in the market at one of the many flower stands:

Seattle Pike Place Flowers

This was one of the better photos I took that day. This bouquet was right in the front of a small flower stand. The proprietor had just set the flowers out and they were so colorful that my eye was immediately drawn to them. I think the quality is pretty good. I had the camera on "program" mode (hover over the image to see the EXIF information). I still enjoy looking at it because it brings back memories of that misty day in Seattle.
